Chef-Z Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 16, 2026
Chef-Z ("we", "us") turns photos of your ingredients into recipes. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account: your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
- Photos you submit: images of ingredients and finished dishes you choose to scan or upload, sent to our AI provider to identify ingredients, generate recipes, and give cooking feedback.
- Recipe activity: dishes you save and cooking photos you save to your account.
- App usage & gamification: stats such as scans, streaks, and achievements. Most of this is stored locally on your device.
How we use it
To provide the core features (ingredient recognition, recipe and image generation, dish feedback), to maintain your account and saved content, and to operate and improve the app. We do not sell your personal information.
Third-party services
- xAI (Grok) — processes submitted images and prompts to generate recipes, images, and feedback.
- Vercel and Neon — host our backend and database.
- RevenueCat and the Apple App Store / Google Play — process in-app subscription purchases. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your account data until you delete it. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Delete Account inside the app, or by emailing us. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Children
Chef-Z is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
